Semaglutide Medical Weight Loss in Scottsdale, AZ

If you've been paying attention, you'll know that modern Americans are significantly heavier than they were just a few decades ago. Take a stroll through any shopping area or strip mall, and it seems like the majority of people you see are grappling with obesity. Data from the CDC backs this up-over 39% of adults in the United States were deemed obese during 2015-2016, which marks an increase from 33.7% in 2007-2008.

Even more concerning is the rise in severe obesity. The same CDC report reveals that nearly 8% of Americans were severely obese in 2015-2016, up from 5.7% in 2007-2008. Essentially, this means that close to 4 in 10 adults in the U.S. are obese, and about 1 in 13 are severely obese. Sadly, tackling obesity isn't something that can happen overnight. The obesity issue in the U.S. continues to escalate as more adults and children choose the convenience of fast food and sugary options over healthier eating, exercise, and beneficial lifestyle choices.

With pervasive stress and the prevalence of nutritionally deficient fast-food options around every corner, losing weight and keeping it off is challenging in today's day and age. That's especially true if you've tried to diet and exercise in the past, only to have your weight balloon back up after a couple months. When diet and fitness aren't enough, sometimes we need a little help. Semaglutide: An Innovative Tool for Effective and Safe Medical Weight Loss

At this point, you're probably curious about semaglutide weight loss and how the medicine is so effective. To understand its effectiveness, it's important that you first understand how semaglutide works in your body. Semaglutide is a groundbreaking medication offered by Dr. Erica Oberg that represents a major step forward in weight loss treatments. As a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, semaglutide mimics the action of the body's natural GLP-1 hormone. This hormone plays a crucial role in managing blood sugar levels and controlling appetite.

By activating the GLP-1 receptors in the brain, semaglutide helps curb hunger and boosts feelings of fullness, leading to a reduction in caloric intake. This weight loss medication also slows down the rate at which the stomach empties, improving blood sugar control. When you use semaglutide, if you attempt to overeat, your body will signal you with a clear message: "That's enough."

At a glance, semaglutide helps you lose weight in a few ways, such as:

Does a Semaglutide Medical Weight Loss Program in Scottsdale, AZ Really Work?

One of the most common questions that Dr. Oberg gets about her groundbreaking telehealth medical weight loss program is whether it truly works or not. In short, it absolutely does. In fact, semaglutide is widely recognized as an effective, FDA-approved option in the realm of anti-obesity medications. In a study involving 2,000 obese adults, participants who took semaglutide while adhering to a diet and exercise regimen experienced significantly greater weight loss than those who relied solely on lifestyle adjustments.

Remarkably, half of the participants managed to shed 15% of their body weight, and nearly one-third lost 20%. This highlights semaglutide's potential as a powerful ally in the battle against obesity. While it's essential to keep in mind that successful obesity management hinges on dietary and exercise changes, access to effective medications like semaglutide can be an integral part of your weight loss plan.

How Long Does It Take to See Results from Semaglutide?

Weight loss results vary by individual, but in clinical studies, people taking semaglutide for weight loss have lost, on average, 10-15% of their body weight over a 6-month to 1-year period. Results may depend on lifestyle factors like diet and physical activity.

Who Should Take Semaglutide for Weight Loss?

To put it bluntly, it can be maddening. If that sounds familiar, you're probably anxious to start losing weight. However, not all overweight people are great candidates for medical weight loss with semaglutide.

If you've got a busy lifestyle or are always on the go, injecting semaglutide at home is a game-changer. Medical weight loss from Dr Oberg also includes regular health coaching sessions, which can also be conducted from your home. Research indicates that a semaglutide medical weight loss program can be more effective than conventional weight loss medications that require daily dosing. Unlike surgical options such as gastric bypass, semaglutide doesn't require any invasive procedures or recovery time. This makes it a favored choice for individuals who are averse to surgery or who haven't found success with other weight loss methods.

Top 5 Ways to Maintain Your Semaglutide Medical Weight Loss in Scottsdale

Achieving your target weight with the support of Dr. Erica Oberg's affordable telehealth weight loss program is an incredible accomplishment worth celebrating. However, it's essential to remember that this is not the time to abandon your hard work. Instead, focus on maintaining your weight loss results. That way, you avoid slipping back into old habits and regaining the weight you worked so hard to lose.

Keep these tips in mind once you're close to hitting your target weight:

Sticking to a consistent eating routine can help control food intake and improve health. Eating at the same times or having similar meals daily provides structure without the need to obsess over calories. This approach can enhance appetite management, energy levels, and overall diet. A large, high-protein breakfast, in particular, is linked to better appetite control and improved blood sugar levels throughout the day.

These often contain empty calories and added sugar, which lack nutritional value. Research links processed food intake to higher body weights and weight gain. Studies suggest that reducing these foods can improve weight management, as the body may burn twice as many calories digesting whole foods compared to processed ones. Overall, a diet rich in whole foods is associated with better weight outcomes.

We often highlight the importance of consistency when it comes to weight loss, as staying committed to your health changes is the key to achieving meaningful results. However, consistency is equally crucial for maintaining fat loss. It's not just about sticking to a plan. It's about creating daily habits and routines that set you up for long-term success.

Vegetables are nutrient-dense and provide significant nutrition with few calories, helping you feel full without large portions. For instance, two cups of broccoli have only 60 calories compared to nearly 500 calories in two cups of cooked pasta. Consuming more non-starchy vegetables may also aid in hunger control.

Engaging in regular physical activity is a highly effective strategy for managing weight, as it helps you burn off calories. It also helps make the most of the food you eat. The amount of exercise required to sustain your weight loss can vary based on individual factors and the types of workouts you choose. Dr. Erica Oberg creates personalized plans tailored to each of her weight-loss patients, along with exercise tips and recommendations based on your body type, age, and more. That way, you can avoid burnout and over-exercising.

After three years of operating on the ground floor of the Orpheum Lofts, chef and restaurant owner Ivan Jacobo is moving his fine dining restaurant Anhelo out of downtown Phoenix and into the heart of Old Town Scottsdale.

Known for its haute cuisine, white tablecloth elegance and award-winning wine list, Ahnelo’s last day of service will be Nov. 23. Jacobo says the final tasting menu will feature his favorite courses from menus over the years for the “one last hurrah” in that location.

Jacobo aims to debut Anhelo in its new location at the southeast corner of Goldwater Boulevard and First Avenue on Feb. 14, 2025.

At a tree-lined spot where lush foliage will greet diners approaching the door, the entry will feature a water fountain, picturesque flowers, romantic lanterns and other fixtures to set the mood. Customers will be welcomed with a tasting pour of bubbles.

“Fine dining is an experience that should start at the moment you walk in the door,” Jacobo says. “Here, it felt like I had the opportunity to take Anhelo to the next level, where we create an experience that begins when you walk toward the restaurant.”

Born in Mexico and raised in Goodyear since he was 3 years old, Jacobo originally didn’t plan on helming a fine dining restaurant. But, Anhelo evolved into one, fueled by the chef's creative and sophisticated dishes and a Wine Spectator award-winning wine list.

When the chance to move into Old Town presented itself, Jacobo saw the opportunity to take his hospitality dreams even further, with a new build, no expense spared and just about every desired detail coming to fruition, including an expansive patio and ample parking lot. Both are amenities he lacks in downtown Phoenix.

“I have an opportunity to create a dream restaurant that any chef would die for,” Jacobo says.

What's next in downtown Phoenix?

However, this doesn’t mean the Orpheum Lofts space will sit vacant.

Jacobo plans to move his new concept Flour & Thyme into Anhelo’s spot and start churning out a tasting menu and a la carte dishes on Dec. 6.

A slightly more relaxed version of its sister restaurant, Flour & Thyme was slated to open earlier this year in central Tempe, within walking distance of Jacobo’s home. However, that deal fell through.

As he's moving Anhelo to Scottsdale, Jacobo also saw an opportunity to open Flour & Thyme in its former space. Here, diners will discover an elegant atmosphere but with less formal touches, like natural stone tables rather than those covered with white linen tablecloths.

Expect a menu of starters like foie gras, a raw bar and handmade pasta dishes. The main course lineup boasts slow-roasted duck breast with carrot puree, micro carrots and Arizona pinecone syrup; and bluefin tuna au poivre, Jacobo’s seafood version of the iconic steak au poivre. A seven-course tasting menu with a wine-pairing option will also be available.

“This is my love letter to downtown Phoenix,” Jacobo says.

Parsons Xtreme Golf – or PXG – the premium golf company and club manufacturer, is trying to highlight its retail offerings beyond golf clubs with a new pop-up apparel and accessories store with a six-month lease in Scottsdale Fashion Square.

On Nov. 1, Scottsdale-based PXG opened its first retail location that does not have its custom club fitting areas and golf simulators, but rather just its high-end clothing options, which the company’s chief marketing officer Renee Parsons said could benefit from a different retail setting.

“Our full-service PXG stores are beautiful – they're just a little bit darker and maybe a little masculine looking,” Parsons told the Business Journal. “With this one we decided to do a lighter, more fashion forward environment.”

The Fashion Square store has both male and female apparel, as well as golf, pickleball and other lifestyle accessories.

An apparel-only store has been talked about at PXG for a while. In fact, Parsons said the company was close to opening one in early 2020 but backed away from those plans when the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

After the pandemic, PXG made a big push for opening full-service retail stores across the country and internationally. With that push slowing a little — only four or five stores are set to open in 2025, compared to 10 in previous years — Parsons said it was time to try the apparel store again, and it also made sense to do it in Scottsdale, the company’s hometown.

“We're going into peak season for Scottsdale and Phoenix,” Parsons said. “It's golf season and we've got holidays. You have lots of tourists and lots of things going on in the Valley. We'll capitalize on the Phoenix Open and then we launch our Spring/Summer Collection March 1.”

The company worked with Macerich Co. (NYSE: MAC), the owner and management company of Scottsdale Fashion Square and several other malls in the Valley to work out the details for the new store.

PXG opened in Fashion Square’s so-called Luxury Wing, and while the brand differs from Prada or Dior, Parsons said there is crossover with PXG’s target customers and luxury shoppers, and she pairs a lot of her PXG products with designer labels.

The new store is meant to serve multiple functions: introduce the brand to more people, show off the high-quality apparel, drive retail sales around the holidays and make more connections between the company and its customer base.

PXG signed a six-month lease for the space at Fashion Square. If the store is successful, Parsons said she would like to extend their lease in Scottsdale and she is already looking at other geographical locations that could be good for PXG clothing stores, but the company has not yet signed any leases.

Parsons — who was honored as one of the Business Journal's Outstanding Women in Business in 2023 — was given the role and title of chief marketing officer in October. She said she’s been very involved with PXG, especially on the marketing side, for the past five years, so when the company decided to make some shifts within the organization, Parsons raised her hand for the CMO role.

“We're transitioning now over the next few weeks, and I'm really excited about it,” she said. “This is perfect timing as we're going into a New Year and looking at some big things for the PXG brand.”

Parsons said the marketing strategy under her leadership will focus on telling PXG’s story. She said as the company has grown its retail footprint over the past several years, it has become clear that the brand operates very differently from other companies in the golf space, and she wants to highlight PXG's unique story.

Parsons’ husband, Bob Parsons, is the former CEO of GoDaddy and the founder of PXG in 2014. The company has three standalone retail stores in the Phoenix area and 25 stores in total across the U.S. It also sponsors several professional golfers on the PGA and LPGA tours.
