GLP-1 Treatments, Semaglutide or Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss in Carlsbad, CA

If you've been paying attention, you'll know that modern Americans are significantly heavier than they were just a few decades ago. Take a stroll through any shopping area or strip mall, and it seems like the majority of people you see are grappling with obesity. Data from the CDC backs this up-over 39% of adults in the United States were deemed obese during 2015-2016, which marks an increase from 33.7% in 2007-2008.

Even more concerning is the rise in severe obesity. The same CDC report reveals that nearly 8% of Americans were severely obese in 2015-2016, up from 5.7% in 2007-2008. Essentially, this means that close to 4 in 10 adults in the U.S. are obese, and about 1 in 13 are severely obese. Sadly, tackling obesity isn't something that can happen overnight. The obesity issue in the U.S. continues to escalate as more adults and children choose the convenience of fast food and sugary options over healthier eating, exercise, and beneficial lifestyle choices.

With pervasive stress and the prevalence of nutritionally deficient fast-food options around every corner, losing weight and keeping it off is challenging in today's day and age. That's especially true if you've tried to diet and exercise in the past, only to have your weight balloon back up after a couple months. When diet and fitness aren't enough, sometimes we need a little help. Top 5 Ways to Maintain Your GLP-1 Treatments, Semaglutide or Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss in Carlsbad

Achieving your target weight with the support of Dr. Erica Oberg's affordable telehealth weight loss program is an incredible accomplishment worth celebrating. However, it's essential to remember that this is not the time to abandon your hard work. Instead, focus on maintaining your weight loss results. That way, you avoid slipping back into old habits and regaining the weight you worked so hard to lose.

Keep these tips in mind once you're close to hitting your target weight:

Sticking to a consistent eating routine can help control food intake and improve health. Eating at the same times or having similar meals daily provides structure without the need to obsess over calories. This approach can enhance appetite management, energy levels, and overall diet. A large, high-protein breakfast, in particular, is linked to better appetite control and improved blood sugar levels throughout the day.

There's nothing wrong with going to Vigilucci's Seafood Steakhouse in Carlsbad, CA for a cheat meal, but it's important to limit processed foods in your diet. These often contain empty calories and added sugar, which lack nutritional value. Research links processed food intake to higher body weights and weight gain. Studies suggest that reducing these foods can improve weight management, as the body may burn twice as many calories digesting whole foods compared to processed ones. Overall, a diet rich in whole foods is associated with better weight outcomes.

We often highlight the importance of consistency when it comes to weight loss, as staying committed to your health changes is the key to achieving meaningful results. However, consistency is equally crucial for maintaining fat loss. It's not just about sticking to a plan. It's about creating daily habits and routines that set you up for long-term success.

Vegetables are nutrient-dense and provide significant nutrition with few calories, helping you feel full without large portions. For instance, two cups of broccoli have only 60 calories compared to nearly 500 calories in two cups of cooked pasta. Consuming more non-starchy vegetables may also aid in hunger control.

Engaging in regular physical activity is a highly effective strategy for managing weight, as it helps you burn off calories. It also helps make the most of the food you eat. The amount of exercise required to sustain your weight loss can vary based on individual factors and the types of workouts you choose. Dr. Erica Oberg creates personalized plans tailored to each of her weight-loss patients, along with exercise tips and recommendations based on your body type, age, and more. That way, you can avoid burnout and over-exercising.

Water is about to get a lot more expensive for millions of Californians

Millions of Californians are set to see significant water rate hikes over the next few years, with prices for essential water supplies jumping by double-digit percentage points. In one large city, cumulative increases could see prices jump about 70% just in the next five years.

San Diego County, the second-largest county in California by population, will see its water rates jump 14% for 2025, according to the San Diego County Water Authority. The public water agency, responsible for providing the majority of water to nearly two dozen area municipalities, including the city of San Diego, currently imports the majority of its water from elsewhere. The utility blamed the rate hikes on increased costs to import water, among other issues. Those costs, handed from a supplier directly to a consumer, are known as “passthrough costs.”

While the San Diego County Water Authority’s board of directors does approve percentage rate increases, as a purchaser of water from elsewhere, it does not control these passthrough costs. The agency “is required by law to set rates at the cost of service,” according to the water authority.

“We realize cost increases are hard to swallow, and we are doing everything possible to combat rate inflation now and in the future,” water authority general manager Dan Denham said in a news release last summer.

Now the city of San Diego, home to nearly 1.4 million people, is preparing for the worst of the county’s rate hikes, with prices jumping as much as 70% between 2025 and the end of the decade. The San Diego City Council is staring down proposed rate hikes of 13.7% for 2026, 14.5% for 2027, and 11% or more in 2028 and again in 2029, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The rate hike for 2025, which was narrowly approved by the city council this month and goes into effect on May 1, is only 5.5%. That number was negotiated down with the water authority from a previously proposed rate hike that could have been as high as 24%.

Cumulatively, those rate hikes could see average San Diego single-family homes go from paying about $90 to $145 or more by 2030, according to the Union-Tribune. The proposed hikes, as outlined in a city-funded budget analysis, will go in front of the San Diego City Council for a vote this fall.

Interestingly, despite statewide warnings of an incoming period of drought, the county’s rate increases aren’t because of a lack of water. For decades, the water authority has built out a robust infrastructure network to store water and supply San Diego County even during dry periods, but new water reclamation and desalination projects mean that the region may not need that much imported water in the very near future.

Yet for now, the cost of the water itself, and the price of maintaining all that infrastructure, is leading to increased rates for homeowners. Per the Union-Tribune, the rate hikes would be used to “cover sharply rising costs for workers, imported water, chemicals, energy, construction projects and other priorities.”

In 2015, San Diego’s Claude “Bud” Lewis Carlsbad Desalination Plant — the largest in the nation — came online, and it is currently producing water for area businesses and residents. And in 2027, the city of San Diego’s Pure Water program, which purifies recycled water, is set to begin. That project should be fully operational by 2035, further reducing the need for imported water from the water authority.

On Saturday, February 8th, Carlsbad Village will be brimming with love and community spirit as Hearts of Carlsbad Village returns for another unforgettable day. This cherished tradition invites everyone to take a leisurely stroll through the Village and explore its small businesses, dine at its restaurants, grab coffee at one of its cafes, and explore its iconic spots all while keeping an eye out for one of 300 beautifully handcrafted glass hearts hidden throughout the area.

What started as a way to support small businesses during the pandemic has grown into an annual celebration of community. Each heart, lovingly created by Barrio Glassworks, is a unique treasure. While not everyone will find one, the true joy of the day is in enjoying the Village, discovering new places, and connecting with the community.

The hunt begins at 9:00 AM, with hearts hidden in accessible, easy-to-spot locations throughout the day. Early afternoon, around 2:00 PM, the last hearts will be hidden. We encourage everyone who finds a heart to register it using the QR code on its label. This will help others who are hunting to know how many remain to be found.

As you explore, you can take advantage of special deals at local businesses like Pure Taco, GelatoLove, Gazelle Fashion and Style, 75 Degrees and Fuzzy, Sun Diego and more making it a perfect day to discover all that the Village has to offer.

A boundary map will be available at Barrio Glassworks on event day. All hearts are hidden outdoors in public spaces. While only 300 hearts are hidden, the experience of discovering Carlsbad Village and enjoying the day with others is what truly makes this event special.

We are pleased and grateful to have four sponsors joining us this year, making this year’s hunt even better. Thanks to Handel’s Ice Cream, First Team Real Estate, Village Faire Shopping Center, and GelatoLove, this hunt’s collection of hearts will include 100 custom colored, branded hearts in the colors of our sponsors. More information on these very special and unique hearts will be available with this year’s boundary map available at Barrio Glassworks.
