Discover Health and Harmony with Functional Medicine from Dr. Erica Oberg
Naturopathic Doctor Fresno Vista, CA

Naturopathic Doctor in Vista, CA

Have you ever been to a primary care doctor and wondered why they focus on treating symptoms instead of addressing the root cause of your illness? Rather than take a patient-centered approach to address questions like, “Why are you ill?” they prescribe medications that alleviate symptoms but don’t do much to solve the underlying issue that’s causing you to be sick.

When you have a runny nose, you’re handed an antihistamine. When you have high cholesterol or high blood pressure, you’re prescribed a pill that treats the number. The truth is that this approach only tackles your symptoms. When the root cause isn’t fixed, your symptoms can get exponentially worse. Remember - your body’s dysfunction isn’t due to your meds not working.

This begs the question: Wouldn't you rather address the underlying cause of your health concerns so you can experience long-term relief? As a naturopathic doctor in Vista, CA, Dr. Erica Oberg takes a functional approach to medicine and well-being instead of treating the symptoms her patients endure.

Hormone Balance Program

As people get older, many things change in life. Often, those changes are good, like having more self-control, financial freedom, and patience. Others are hard to deal with, especially when they're out of our control. Like all things in life, our hormones change when we get older. These fluctuations can cause problems for both men and women, including:

  • Mood Swings
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Sleep Problems
  • Less Bone Density
  • More Fat Around Midsection
 Fresno Holistic Medicine Vista, CA

If those symptoms sound familiar, you're not alone. A 2019 American Psychological Association survey found that almost half of women aged 30 to 60 in the US have experienced symptoms of a hormonal imbalance. Of course, as men age, they suffer from imbalanced hormones, too. Research from BodyLogicMD states that nearly 38% of males in America aged 45 and older have a testosterone deficiency.

The good news is that balancing your hormones and addressing the root cause of your symptoms doesn’t have to be hard. It’s a realistic goal with Dr. Oberg by your side. As a functional medicine doctor in Vista, CA, she can help your body metabolize and detoxify both your own hormones and the endocrine-disrupting chemicals infiltrating your life. When your hormones are in harmony, you experience improved energy, mood, and overall health – and that’s something to be excited about.

Tips and Tools

We provide a range of practical strategies and tips for regulating hormone balance through your nervous system. These techniques aim to empower you to take control of your well-being.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Testosterone Replacement Therapy, or Growth Hormone Therapy Balancing Program

When appropriate, we’ll prescribe you hormone replacement therapy (HRT), testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), or growth hormone peptide therapy to help balance your hormones.

At our functional medical office, we make it a point to correct the root causes of our patient's problems. We don't treat symptoms - but we do use them to figure out the underlying issues you're facing. If you notice any of the following symptoms, it could be time to consider HRT.

Natural Health Care Fresno Vista, CA

Three Signs That a Male's Hormones Are Imbalanced

When you mention hormone replacement therapy, most people think the treatment is exclusively for females going through menopause. While that's partially true - HRT can relieve night sweats, hot flashes, and other menopause-related problems - men also deal with imbalanced hormones.

 Naturopathic Treatment Fresno Vista, CA

Testosterone plays a crucial role in male sexual health. Low levels can result in decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and other sexual performance issues. Difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection may be a sign of imbalanced hormones or low testosterone levels.

 Fresno Alternative Medicine Vista, CA

When your sleep patterns change - like when you have trouble falling or staying asleep - it could be a sign of a hormone imbalance. Testosterone is involved in regulating the sleep cycle, and insufficient levels of it can disrupt quality rest.

Imbalances in hormones can affect mental health and mood. If a man shows signs of irritability, mood swings, or depression, it could indicate low testosterone or other hormonal issues. Hormone replacement therapy can help regulate mood by balancing your hormone levels.

Three Signs a Female's Hormones are Imbalanced

Menopause happens when a woman has not had a menstrual cycle for at least 12 consecutive months. It is a result of declining sex hormone levels, causing the ovaries to stop releasing egg cells. During menopause, women face a range of challenges.

 Fresno Holistic Medicine Vista, CA

Testosterone plays a crucial role in male sexual health. Low levels can result in decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and other sexual performance issues. Difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection may be a sign of imbalanced hormones or low testosterone levels.

Natural Health Care Fresno Vista, CA

Irregular menstrual cycles are a common sign that women are nearing menopause, and their hormone levels may be shifting. The frequency of their periods may increase or decrease, and the amount of bleeding could be more or less than usual, while also lasting for a shorter or longer time.

 Naturopathic Treatment Fresno Vista, CA

Hot flashes are perhaps the most well-known symptom of menopause and a frequent sign that a woman's hormones are imbalanced. Hot flashes are sudden feelings of warmth and sweating that are usually most intense on your face, neck, and chest.

Don't let hormone imbalances dictate your life. Take the first step towards reclaiming your balance, energy, and vitality. By working together with Dr. Oberg and her team, you can unlock the path to a healthier, more harmonious you.

Personalized IV Therapy

When you choose Dr. Oberg as your naturopathic doctor in Vista, CA, a new world of healthy living and wellness options are at your disposal. One of the most popular and effective ways to give your body the goodness it needs is with custom IV therapy at our functional medicine office.

 Fresno Alternative Medicine Vista, CA

What is Personalized IV Therapy from Dr. Oberg?

Customized IV therapy from Dr. Oberg is all about tailoring your treatment to meet your health goals and needs. Unlike one-size-fits-all IV clinics, our team considers factors like nutrient deficiencies, hydration levels, and overall health to create a customized infusion. This personalized approach gives you better and more applicable results, whether you're looking to get a boost of energy, fortify your immune system, or get relief from a specific ailment.

Your custom IV therapy begins with a consultation with Dr. Oberg. During your initial meeting, we’ll get a better sense of what your brain and body needs. From there, we’ll create a custom infusion for you – not just a formula that matches your height, weight, and age.

Our IV drip therapy menu includes infusions such as:

  • Detox
  • Forever Young
  • Beauty from Within
  • Immune Boost
  • Cardio Tonic
  • Rehydrate and Rebalance
  • Performance and Recovery
  • NAD+
  • Exosomes
  • Custom IV Infusions

Does IV Therapy Really Help?

IV therapy is considered one of the best ways to get the nutrients and immune-boosting goodness your body needs because it gives you a more direct, efficient means of delivery. Unlike oral supplement, which often falls short due to digestive limitations, IV therapy ensures swift and comprehensive nutrient absorption. Some of the biggest benefits of IV therapy from a functional medicine doctor in Vista, CA include the following:

IV fluids and electrolytes rapidly hydrate your body, providing an efficient remedy for dehydration resulting from illness, physical activity, or excessive alcohol intake.

IV treatment is able to increase energy and fight tiredness, which can make you feel re-energized.

IV infusions containing immune-enhancing vitamins and antioxidants can fortify your immune system and assist in recovering from illness.

IV therapy containing growth factors, exosomes, and vitamins is effective in improving the health and appearance of the skin and hair. These components complement hair and facial microneedling treatments exceptionally well.

IV therapy can help reduce the symptoms of toxic exposure, like headaches, nausea, fatigue, and dehydration, whether it's from a basic hangover or prolonged exposure to molds, heavy metals, or other toxins.

Dr. Oberg’s personalized IV infusions can serve as an initial boost for making lifestyle changes and play a role in a sustained plan to control persistent conditions like diabetes, autoimmune disorders, cancer, heart disease, and others.

Support Mitochondria function and Anti-aging

Dr. Oberg offers carefully sourced and research backed regenerative therapies such as exosome and stem cell infusions. These can be powerful options for people recovering from chronic infections such as long COVID or Epstein Barr or Lyme. They are also powerful for neuro-regeneration and we frequently use them in stroke recovery and for traumatic brain injury.

Naturopathic Doctor Fresno Vista, CA

Dr. Oberg Has an IV Infusion with Your Name on It

This therapy is based on advanced testing that evaluates your cells' nutrient levels. Whether you need more energy, a stronger immune system, or relief from different health issues, IV drip therapy can be customized to help you rediscover the very best version of yourself.

Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine

As we get older, our bodies experience a range of changes that affect our health and appearance. These changes are primarily caused by issues with mitochondria and cellular aging. However, there have been significant developments in regenerative medicine, offering the potential to turn back the hands of time and improve health. Schedule a consultation today with Dr. Oberg to begin your journey with regenerative medicine.

Exosomes are tiny vesicles generated from mesenchymal stem cells. These vesicles serve as powerful communicators, transmitting signals to various tissues in the body. Their main function is to trigger healing, regeneration, and repair processes, mimicking the actions of younger cells. They are considered to be one of the most effective strategies for combating the aging process.

 Fresno Holistic Medicine Vista, CA

When nutrition guidance, lifestyle adaptations, and powerful supplements are combined with naturopathic medical therapies from Dr. Oberg, you can reverse chronic diseases in your life and reach your anti-aging goals.

Sometimes in the process of fielding these Build-Outs stories, you come across a sentence or two that just leaves you floored. Here is one of those, from today’s new Build-Out feature submitted by Vigilante Coffee of Vista, CA:

“Originally, the building housed a Radio Shack.

Today, the entire building is a living breathing piece of art.”

One simply must read more, at which point one discovers that Vigilante is also connected to a craft cannabis shop, and uses an absolutely gorgeous custom “chameleon color wrapped” La Marzocco KB90. Just keep scrolling.

The 2024 Build-Outs of Coffee is presented by Ceado and Dona. The 2024 Build-outs of Coffee is sponsored by Pacific Barista Series, La Marzocco, Acaia, and Ghirardelli.

As told to Sprudge by Chris Vigilante.

For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?

Vigilante Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster that started in Washington, DC in 2012. I learned coffee from seed to cup, including the roasting process, in Hawaii then moved to DC and began roasting in a row house basement on a 1lb roaster. Through farmers markets, pop ups, and growing wholesale the company grew and in 2014 we opened up our Hyattsville, Maryland roastery and cafe and coffee lab. In 2018 we established our second cafe in College Park, Maryland right next to the University of Maryland. We are focused on sourcing our coffees directly as possible. We participate in coffee auctions at origin and develop multi-year relationships with our farmers all over the world. (Check out our transparency page). In the beginning of 2021 we opened our west coast roastery in Oceanside, California where we roast on a 15kg Loring. So now we’re roasting and brewing in four cafes on both coasts. We just opened the Vista, California cafe at the end of July.

Can you tell us a bit about the new space?

Originally, the building housed a Radio Shack. Today, the entire building is a living breathing piece of art. Street graffiti artist Risk painted the building a few years back. There are two spaces in the building. Vigilante Coffee & an OG cannabis dispensary, Tradecraft Farms! They grow their own herb in Los Angeles and we’re stoked to have them as our neighbors. There were one of the main reasons we decided to put a cafe here!

Our cafe space is 3,000 square feet. It’s airy and open with a minimalist approach. We built a large coffee bar featuring espresso, pour-overs, and drip coffees. The bar is built to show the process of brewing and invite the guests to ask questions and engage. We’ve added a TV screen to this cafe with b-roll showing drone footage of the local surfing spots and hikes as well as our coffee videos to origin, brewing tutorials, etc. We wanted to give the guest something to watch while they waited for their coffee. Vigilante Vista also has a beautiful lil courtyard in the back that has a nice mellow vibe.

It was a dream of ours to connect the two concepts of a cannabis dispensary and a specialty coffee shop. We were inspired by the Amsterdam style of coffee shops. While these two spaces are separate, it’s just a wonderfully convenient experience for anyone looking to appreciate craft cannabis and craft coffee. We think they go hand in hand and we like to say, “all you need is coffee and weed!”

What’s your approach to coffee?

Source world class coffees, roast them delicately and with terroir at the forefront. Use our business as a force for good and spend our money wisely, supporting like minded partners. Making moves that are good for our customers, our company, and the planet. Ultimately, we just wanna leave the game better than we found it and bring people an experience that uplifts them. Both from a quality standpoint and a service standpoint.

Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?

A custom chameleon color wrapped La Marzocco KB90 espresso machine, Curtis Corinth hot water tower, Kalita Wave pour-overs, Curtis G4 brewer, E80, an EK43 Mahlkönig grinder.

We’re featuring our Tin Lizzie Espresso blend and a wonderful single origin Colombian decaf coffee called Madre Laura. We source that coffee from Campesino Coffee. We rotate the pour-over offerings with whatever is freshest and most exciting in our lineup.

How is your project considering sustainability?

On the coffee sourcing/roasting side we aim to work as closely with the producer as possible. If we’re working with importers, which we most definitely are, many of our partners are Certified B-Corp. We’re just aiming to do business the best way, where all parties benefit and sustain long and fruitful relationships.

All of our to-go items in our cafes can be recycled or composted from our coffee bags to our cups plus all the packaging for online orders.

What’s your hopeful target opening date/month?

What is the best internet provider in Chula Vista?

Cox is CNET's pick for the best internet provider overall for most households in Chula Vista. It is widely available and offers fiber options in some neighborhoods. But Cox internet service isn't available everywhere in Chula Vista, so AT&T Fiber or Wyyerd are also solid picks, depending on what's available in your area.

We've also found the top options if you're hunting for the lowest prices or fastest speeds. The cheapest internet in Chula Vista is Cox's 100 megabits per second connection for $50 (cable) or $70 (fiber) monthly. The fastest available internet speed in Chula Vista comes from AT&T Fiber and Wyyerd. They offer speeds up to 5,000Mbps: AT&T's option costs $255 per month, while Wyyerd's plan costs $150 monthly.

Other available internet providers in Chula Vista

Cheap internet options in Chula Vista

Internet plans in Chula Vista start at $30 per month. Cox has a plan at this rate with speeds up to 100Mbps. Next is Verizon Home Internet with its $50 plan which offers typical max speeds ranging up to 100Mbps too. However, you can consider bundling 5G home internet from Verizon or T-Mobile to reduce your monthly internet price. AT&T Fiber enters the discussion at $65 per month for 300Mbps. The best broadband choice for you might not just be about the lowest price. Also consider value, like with Wyyerd’s $65-per-month 600Mbps plan. It’s not the cheapest, but it offers fast, symmetrical speeds for the money.

How to find internet deals and promotions in Chula Vista

The best internet deals and top promotions in Chula Vista depend on what discounts are available during that time. Most deals are short-lived, but we look frequently for the latest offers.

Chula Vista internet providers, such as Cox, may offer lower introductory pricing or streaming add-ons for a limited time. Many providers, including AT&T, Wyyerd and T-Mobile Home Internet, tend to run the same standard pricing year-round.

For a more extensive list of promos, check out our guide on the best internet deals.

How fast is Chula Vista broadband?

Chula Vista fared well in a recent Ookla speed test report, showing the city with a median fixed internet download speed of nearly 290Mbps. Compare that to San Diego at about 170Mbps and Los Angeles at 230Mbps. The widespread availability of gigabit and multigigabit speeds across Chula Vista helps with the city’s overall performance. Your personal speed test results may vary with location, equipment or network congestion.

Source: CNET analysis of provider data.

What’s a good internet speed?

Most internet connection plans can now handle basic productivity and communication tasks. If you're looking for an internet plan that can accommodate video conferencing, streaming video or gaming, you'll have a better experience with a more robust connection. Here's an overview of the recommended minimum download speeds for various applications, according to the FCC. Note that these are only guidelines and that internet speed, service and performance vary by connection type, provider and address.

For more information, refer to our guide on how much internet speed you really need.

How CNET chose the best internet providers in Chula Vista

Internet service providers are numerous and regional. Unlike the latest smartphone, laptop, router or kitchen tool, it's impractical to personally test every internet service provider in a given city. What's our approach? For starters, we tap into a proprietary pricing, availability and speed database that draws from our own historical ISP data, partner data and mapping information from the Federal Communications Commission at FCC.gov.

It doesn't end there: We go to the FCC's website to check our data and ensure we consider every ISP that provides service in an area. We also input local addresses on provider websites to find specific options for residents. We look at sources, including the American Customer Satisfaction Index and J.D. Power, to evaluate how happy customers are with an ISP's service. ISP plans and prices are subject to frequent changes; all information provided is accurate as of publication.

Once we have this localized information, we ask three main questions:

While the answer to those questions is often layered and complex, the providers who come closest to “yes” on all three are the ones we recommend. When selecting the cheapest internet service, we look for the plans with the lowest monthly fee, though we also factor in things like price increases, equipment fees and contracts. Choosing the fastest internet service is relatively straightforward. We look at advertised upload and download speeds and consider real-world speed data from sources like Ookla and FCC reports.

To explore our process in more depth, visit our how we test ISPs page.

What’s the final word on internet providers in Chula Vista?

Cox’s cable plans face stiff competition in Chula Vista from AT&T Fiber, Wyyerd and Cox’s fiber offerings. If you can get fiber, prioritize that. AT&T Fiber and Wyyerd offer a good bang for your buck with symmetrical upload and download speeds. Wyyerd rules the top end of the speed spectrum with a $150-per-month 5,000Mbps plan that’s significantly cheaper than AT&T Fiber’s equivalent offering.

After developing a following through farmers’ markets like the weekly Saturday market in Poway where its booth regularly draws lines of customers, Glutenus Maximus Bakehouse is unveiling its first storefront cafe in Vista this Sunday, June 2 at 9 a.m.

Having since expanded into cookies, croissants, and other baked goods, Glutenus Maximus began with owner Casey Smith’s love of cooking homemade waffles; a hobby that started when he was a child. The passion eventually turned into a profession, with Smith working at various bakeries before launching a farmers' market stall specializing in savory sandwiches built on Liege waffles made from brioche dough with caramelized pockets of pearl sugar.

Operating daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., the new cafe will be focused on takeout, with a minimalist but cozy interior and a pastry display that will feature the bakery’s sweet treats, including brown butter chocolate chip cookies, almond croissants, cardamom morning buns, butterscotch pecan sticky buns, and lemon curd-filled cruffins, a croissant-muffin hybrid. Glutenus Maximus will also offer coffee and tea along with an expanded menu of hot sandwiches, including breakfast egg sandwiches on Liege waffles and brioche buns and a braised beef short rib croissant sandwich.

A rep for the bakery tells Eater that it’ll keep running its popular stand at the Poway Farmers Market, but will only be serving hot items at the Vista storefront.
