Naturopathic Doctor Near Spring Valley, CA

Have you ever been to a primary care doctor and wondered why they focus on treating symptoms instead of addressing the root cause of your illness? Rather than take a patient-centered approach to address questions like, “Why are you ill?” they prescribe medications that alleviate symptoms but don’t do much to solve the underlying issue that’s causing you to be sick.

When you have a runny nose, you’re handed an antihistamine. When you have high cholesterol or high blood pressure, you’re prescribed a pill that treats the number. The truth is that this approach only tackles your symptoms. When the root cause isn’t fixed, your symptoms can get exponentially worse. Remember - your body’s dysfunction isn’t due to your meds not working.

This begs the question: Wouldn't you rather address the underlying cause of your health concerns so you can experience long-term relief? As a naturopathic doctor in Spring Valley, CA, Dr. Erica Oberg takes a functional approach to medicine and well-being instead of treating the symptoms her patients endure.

Hormone Balance Program

As people get older, many things change in life. Often, those changes are good, like having more self-control, financial freedom, and patience. Others are hard to deal with, especially when they're out of our control. Like all things in life, our hormones change when we get older. These fluctuations can cause problems for both men and women, including:

  • Mood Swings
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Sleep Problems
  • Less Bone Density
  • More Fat Around Midsection
Fresno Holistic Medicine Spring Valley, CA

If those symptoms sound familiar, you're not alone. A 2019 American Psychological Association survey found that almost half of women aged 30 to 60 in the US have experienced symptoms of a hormonal imbalance. Of course, as men age, they suffer from imbalanced hormones, too. Research from BodyLogicMD states that nearly 38% of males in America aged 45 and older have a testosterone deficiency.

The good news is that balancing your hormones and addressing the root cause of your symptoms doesn’t have to be hard. It’s a realistic goal with Dr. Oberg by your side. As a functional medicine doctor in Spring Valley, CA, she can help your body metabolize and detoxify both your own hormones and the endocrine-disrupting chemicals infiltrating your life. When your hormones are in harmony, you experience improved energy, mood, and overall health – and that’s something to be excited about.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Testosterone Replacement Therapy, or Growth Hormone Therapy Balancing Program

When appropriate, we’ll prescribe you hormone replacement therapy (HRT), testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), or growth hormone peptide therapy to help balance your hormones.

At our functional medical office, we make it a point to correct the root causes of our patient's problems. We don't treat symptoms - but we do use them to figure out the underlying issues you're facing. If you notice any of the following symptoms, it could be time to consider HRT.

Three Signs That a Male's Hormones Are Imbalanced

When you mention hormone replacement therapy, most people think the treatment is exclusively for females going through menopause. While that's partially true - HRT can relieve night sweats, hot flashes, and other menopause-related problems - men also deal with imbalanced hormones.

Testosterone plays a crucial role in male sexual health. Low levels can result in decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and other sexual performance issues. Difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection may be a sign of imbalanced hormones or low testosterone levels.

When your sleep patterns change - like when you have trouble falling or staying asleep - it could be a sign of a hormone imbalance. Testosterone is involved in regulating the sleep cycle, and insufficient levels of it can disrupt quality rest.

Imbalances in hormones can affect mental health and mood. If a man shows signs of irritability, mood swings, or depression, it could indicate low testosterone or other hormonal issues. Hormone replacement therapy can help regulate mood by balancing your hormone levels.

Three Signs a Female's Hormones are Imbalanced

Menopause happens when a woman has not had a menstrual cycle for at least 12 consecutive months. It is a result of declining sex hormone levels, causing the ovaries to stop releasing egg cells. During menopause, women face a range of challenges.

Irregular menstrual cycles are a common sign that women are nearing menopause, and their hormone levels may be shifting. The frequency of their periods may increase or decrease, and the amount of bleeding could be more or less than usual, while also lasting for a shorter or longer time.

Hot flashes are perhaps the most well-known symptom of menopause and a frequent sign that a woman's hormones are imbalanced. Hot flashes are sudden feelings of warmth and sweating that are usually most intense on your face, neck, and chest.

Unlike one-size-fits-all IV clinics, our team considers factors like nutrient deficiencies, hydration levels, and overall health to create a customized infusion. This personalized approach gives you better and more applicable results, whether you're looking to get a boost of energy, fortify your immune system, or get relief from a specific ailment.

Your custom IV therapy begins with a consultation with Dr. Oberg. During your initial meeting, we’ll get a better sense of what your brain and body needs. From there, we’ll create a custom infusion for you – not just a formula that matches your height, weight, and age.

Does IV Therapy Really Help?

IV therapy is considered one of the best ways to get the nutrients and immune-boosting goodness your body needs because it gives you a more direct, efficient means of delivery. Unlike oral supplement, which often falls short due to digestive limitations, IV therapy ensures swift and comprehensive nutrient absorption. Some of the biggest benefits of IV therapy from a functional medicine doctor in Spring Valley, CA include the following:

IV fluids and electrolytes rapidly hydrate your body, providing an efficient remedy for dehydration resulting from illness, physical activity, or excessive alcohol intake.

IV treatment is able to increase energy and fight tiredness, which can make you feel re-energized.

IV infusions containing immune-enhancing vitamins and antioxidants can fortify your immune system and assist in recovering from illness.

IV therapy containing growth factors, exosomes, and vitamins is effective in improving the health and appearance of the skin and hair. These components complement hair and facial microneedling treatments exceptionally well.

IV therapy can help reduce the symptoms of toxic exposure, like headaches, nausea, fatigue, and dehydration, whether it's from a basic hangover or prolonged exposure to molds, heavy metals, or other toxins.

Dr. Oberg’s personalized IV infusions can serve as an initial boost for making lifestyle changes and play a role in a sustained plan to control persistent conditions like diabetes, autoimmune disorders, cancer, heart disease, and others.

Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is making moves this weekend, as coach Mike Elko and his staff hosted a long list of talented offensive linemen, defenders, and skill position players on Saturday during the program's first junior day of the offseason.

This week, Rivals Aggie insider Landyn Rosow reported that Coach Mike Elko and his staff are set to meet with four-star athlete Brandon Arrington. He tops the Aggies' recruiting board and is currently trending with the program after visiting during the 2024 season.

During his 2023 sophomore season, Arrington recorded 310 receiving yards, four touchdowns on offense, 25 tackles on defense, and a punt return touchdown on special teams. At the next level, Arrington could play at cornerback or wide receiver due to his speed and

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. — Crews battled a fire early Tuesday morning at a fast food restaurant in Spring Valley.

The fire was reported just after 3:00 a.m. at a McDonald's located at 8730 Jamacha Blvd. It's the only McDonald's in the Spring Valley area.

According to San Miguel Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Brian Liebreman, the cause of the fire is not known. Liebreman added that the restaurant is at a total loss.

The roof of the building collapsed due to the flames, forcing crews to fight the fire from the outside in.

Tuesday afternoon, crews brought in a large ladder truck to access fire trapped inside the attic.

"One of the challenges we're working through is we have fire trapped within the walls. Right now, we can't access it effectively so we have our truck company with a large aerial ladder that we called out for assistance to give us better access to extinguish the fire," said Brian Hamel an engineer/paramedic with San Miguel Fire & Rescue.

Crews suspect the fire started in the basement, which is used for storage.

"When we have fire in a basement, for one, access is an issue. Two, we don't want to have fire below us," he added, saying it's just too dangerous.

The charred restaurant attracted crowds of people throughout the day.

"I came here to see if I could get McDonald's for the kids after school," said Jessica Reyna. "It's crazy to see it burned. From what I know, it's been here for a long time."

She said the fast food spot is typically busy.

"This is the closest one to us," she said. "Now we have to drive a little further to get a little McDonald's."

San Miguel Fire & Rescue told CBS 8 that no one was inside during the time of the fire, and no one was injured. The McDonald's was closed at the time of the fire.

In a statement to CBS 8, owner and operator Chris Rowe said:

“We’re incredibly relieved that no one was harmed in the fire that impacted our restaurant on Jamacha Blvd. early this morning. This restaurant has been in my family for decades and we couldn’t be more heartbroken. The restaurant was closed at the time and will remain closed until further notice. We appreciate the community’s understanding as we work closely with the local fire department and authorities to investigate the cause, assess the damage and determine next steps for restoration.”

Two wins and a loss for Cowichan's teams

It's time for spring football and three Cowichan Valley Bulldogs team are in action this season: the Atoms, the Peewees, and the Jr. Bantams.

Atoms

The Atom Bulldogs met the Southside Dawgs in Week 1 of the Vancouver Island Canadian Football Association season and lost 40-6.

"We are a very young team and new to football but showed so much heart and never gave up," said coach Tyler Gavin.

Christian Murray scored Cowichan's loan touchdown on a long run early in the competition while newcomer Rowan McGarvey ran the ball well.

"He looked very impressive," Gavin noted. The coach also gave a note to both Noah Atchison and Eli Frenchy-Thorne on defence.

"They played excellent chasing down players, including a nice forced fumble from Noah," Gavin said.

The Atom Bulldogs play host to Westshore next week at McAdam Park at 10 a.m.

Peewee

The Peewee Bulldogs opened their season at home, also against the Southside Dawgs on Saturday and though the game resulted in the same 40-6 score as their Atom counterparts, the Peewees were on the winning end.

Four players scored for the Bulldogs: Rylen Heyer scored twice with his legs and completed one passing touchdown to Devon Randhawa. The team's other two touchdowns were on the ground coming at the hands of Felix Bernardi and Carter Bouchard.

"On defence we had a stifling game allowing only one score," said head coach Justin Young.

Defensive standouts included Dawson Sherman with two quarterback sacks. Rylend "Blondi" Monti led the team in tackles.

"As a whole, the defence played phenomenally and I want to give a shout out to all their effort," Young said. "Our offence was methodical and had some good drives as well.

Next up for the Peewee Bulldogs is a home game next Saturday against the Oceanside Lions. Kickoff is 11:30 a.m.

Junior Bantam

Under the guidance of head coach Opie Williams, the Junior Bantam Bulldogs earned a 27-12 win on Saturday.

"It was a great first game for us," Williams said. "Our defence played awesome, forcing a three and out on the first drive which gave us great field position. We tried for a field goal but Kalem missed to the left but we still got the single point. On the next series we pinned them deep again and they gave up a safety."

Eli Atchison scored the squad's first two touchdowns, the first in the second quarter when he broke a run for 85 yards to score.

The Bulldogs went into the half with an 11-0 lead.

On the second half kick-off, Justin Jack-Thomas almost took it to the house but was brought down by a Southside Dawgs player on the 17-yard line. But a backup QB, Kasen Randhawa was intercepted on the goal-line.

Cowichan's defence came up strong and was able to stop the pressing Southside and then Atchison was able to break a second big run for 64 yards for his second major score of the day.

"Southside was able to score midway through the fourth quarter when we got a little sloppy on our tackling but they missed the extra point," Williams said. "We were able to add back to our lead with a completion from Randhawa to Harrison "Solo" Paxton made a great catch and run breaking several tackles for a 60-yard TD. Kalem Thomas made all the extra points."

Wyatt "Skittles" Larkin made a great interception down on the 20-yard line but then fumbled the ball on the return and Southside was able to score the next play.

"The coaching staff was impressed with the way the team played today and are looking to improving on this for next week's home game," Williams said.

Westshore visits McAdam Park on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kick-off.

Spring Valley, CA (March 29, 2025) – Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victims following a hit-and-run collision early Saturday morning at the intersection of Sweetwater Rd and Valencia St in Spring Valley.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 12:39 a.m., initially reported as a traffic collision with unknown injuries but later upgraded to an injury incident with emergency medical services en route. Debris was scattered across lanes, and at least one vehicle had deployed airbags, indicating significant impact. One individual, identified as “108-26C” in traffic reports, was transported to Scripps Hospital for medical treatment.

Officers confirmed that the driver responsible for the crash fled the scene, prompting an active investigation. Units arrived at the location between 12:51 a.m. and 2:53 a.m., with law enforcement maintaining presence while managing the debris and assessing the situation. Additional support was dispatched for vehicle removal and further investigation.

Authorities are continuing their search for the suspect driver involved. The motive and sequence of events leading to the crash remain under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we hope for a full recovery.

The Dangers of Hit-and-Run Crashes in San Diego County

The hit-and-run incident at Sweetwater Rd and Valencia St highlights a disturbing trend seen across San Diego County and California as a whole. Fleeing the scene of an accident not only endangers injured victims by delaying medical attention but also adds stress and complexity to an already traumatic event.

California consistently ranks among the top states for hit-and-run crashes, with thousands of such incidents reported annually. Many of these occur in suburban communities like Spring Valley, where lower lighting and reduced overnight traffic may embolden fleeing drivers. Victims are often left behind without immediate aid or crucial details to pursue justice.

Injured individuals may face extended hospital stays, expensive treatments, and legal complications trying to secure compensation when the at-fault driver is unidentified. It’s important for victims of hit-and-run collisions to know they still have options, including uninsured motorist claims and legal avenues that can help with recovery and support.

Residents are urged to report suspicious vehicles, check home or dashcam footage, and offer any information that might help locate hit-and-run drivers. Working together, communities can improve accountability and promote safer streets.
