Discover Health and Harmony with Functional Medicine from Dr. Erica Oberg
Naturopathic Doctor Fresno Pine Valley, CA

Naturopathic Doctor in Pine Valley, CA

Have you ever been to a primary care doctor and wondered why they focus on treating symptoms instead of addressing the root cause of your illness? Rather than take a patient-centered approach to address questions like, “Why are you ill?” they prescribe medications that alleviate symptoms but don’t do much to solve the underlying issue that’s causing you to be sick.

When you have a runny nose, you’re handed an antihistamine. When you have high cholesterol or high blood pressure, you’re prescribed a pill that treats the number. The truth is that this approach only tackles your symptoms. When the root cause isn’t fixed, your symptoms can get exponentially worse. Remember - your body’s dysfunction isn’t due to your meds not working.

This begs the question: Wouldn't you rather address the underlying cause of your health concerns so you can experience long-term relief? As a naturopathic doctor in Pine Valley, CA, Dr. Erica Oberg takes a functional approach to medicine and well-being instead of treating the symptoms her patients endure.

Hormone Balance Program

As people get older, many things change in life. Often, those changes are good, like having more self-control, financial freedom, and patience. Others are hard to deal with, especially when they're out of our control. Like all things in life, our hormones change when we get older. These fluctuations can cause problems for both men and women, including:

  • Mood Swings
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Sleep Problems
  • Less Bone Density
  • More Fat Around Midsection
Fresno Holistic Medicine Pine Valley, CA

If those symptoms sound familiar, you're not alone. A 2019 American Psychological Association survey found that almost half of women aged 30 to 60 in the US have experienced symptoms of a hormonal imbalance. Of course, as men age, they suffer from imbalanced hormones, too. Research from BodyLogicMD states that nearly 38% of males in America aged 45 and older have a testosterone deficiency.

The good news is that balancing your hormones and addressing the root cause of your symptoms doesn’t have to be hard. It’s a realistic goal with Dr. Oberg by your side. As a functional medicine doctor in Pine Valley, CA, she can help your body metabolize and detoxify both your own hormones and the endocrine-disrupting chemicals infiltrating your life. When your hormones are in harmony, you experience improved energy, mood, and overall health – and that’s something to be excited about.

Tips

Tips and Tools

We provide a range of practical strategies and tips for regulating hormone balance through your nervous system. These techniques aim to empower you to take control of your well-being.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Testosterone Replacement Therapy, or Growth Hormone Therapy Balancing Program

When appropriate, we’ll prescribe you hormone replacement therapy (HRT), testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), or growth hormone peptide therapy to help balance your hormones.

At our functional medical office, we make it a point to correct the root causes of our patient's problems. We don't treat symptoms - but we do use them to figure out the underlying issues you're facing. If you notice any of the following symptoms, it could be time to consider HRT.

Natural Health Care Fresno Pine Valley, CA

Three Signs That a Male's Hormones Are Imbalanced

When you mention hormone replacement therapy, most people think the treatment is exclusively for females going through menopause. While that's partially true - HRT can relieve night sweats, hot flashes, and other menopause-related problems - men also deal with imbalanced hormones.

Testosterone plays a crucial role in male sexual health. Low levels can result in decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and other sexual performance issues. Difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection may be a sign of imbalanced hormones or low testosterone levels.

When your sleep patterns change - like when you have trouble falling or staying asleep - it could be a sign of a hormone imbalance. Testosterone is involved in regulating the sleep cycle, and insufficient levels of it can disrupt quality rest.

Imbalances in hormones can affect mental health and mood. If a man shows signs of irritability, mood swings, or depression, it could indicate low testosterone or other hormonal issues. Hormone replacement therapy can help regulate mood by balancing your hormone levels.

Three Signs a Female's Hormones are Imbalanced

Menopause happens when a woman has not had a menstrual cycle for at least 12 consecutive months. It is a result of declining sex hormone levels, causing the ovaries to stop releasing egg cells. During menopause, women face a range of challenges.

Testosterone plays a crucial role in male sexual health. Low levels can result in decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and other sexual performance issues. Difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection may be a sign of imbalanced hormones or low testosterone levels.

Natural Health Care Fresno Pine Valley, CA

Irregular menstrual cycles are a common sign that women are nearing menopause, and their hormone levels may be shifting. The frequency of their periods may increase or decrease, and the amount of bleeding could be more or less than usual, while also lasting for a shorter or longer time.

Naturopathic Treatment Fresno Pine Valley, CA

Hot flashes are perhaps the most well-known symptom of menopause and a frequent sign that a woman's hormones are imbalanced. Hot flashes are sudden feelings of warmth and sweating that are usually most intense on your face, neck, and chest.

Don't let hormone imbalances dictate your life. Take the first step towards reclaiming your balance, energy, and vitality. By working together with Dr. Oberg and her team, you can unlock the path to a healthier, more harmonious you.

Personalized IV Therapy

When you choose Dr. Oberg as your naturopathic doctor in Pine Valley, CA, a new world of healthy living and wellness options are at your disposal. One of the most popular and effective ways to give your body the goodness it needs is with custom IV therapy at our functional medicine office.

Fresno Alternative Medicine Pine Valley, CA

What is Personalized IV Therapy from Dr. Oberg?

Customized IV therapy from Dr. Oberg is all about tailoring your treatment to meet your health goals and needs. Unlike one-size-fits-all IV clinics, our team considers factors like nutrient deficiencies, hydration levels, and overall health to create a customized infusion. This personalized approach gives you better and more applicable results, whether you're looking to get a boost of energy, fortify your immune system, or get relief from a specific ailment.

Your custom IV therapy begins with a consultation with Dr. Oberg. During your initial meeting, we’ll get a better sense of what your brain and body needs. From there, we’ll create a custom infusion for you – not just a formula that matches your height, weight, and age.

Our IV drip therapy menu includes infusions such as:

  • Detox
  • Forever Young
  • Beauty from Within
  • Immune Boost
  • Cardio Tonic
  • Rehydrate and Rebalance
  • Performance and Recovery
  • NAD+
  • Exosomes
  • Custom IV Infusions

Does IV Therapy Really Help?

IV therapy is considered one of the best ways to get the nutrients and immune-boosting goodness your body needs because it gives you a more direct, efficient means of delivery. Unlike oral supplement, which often falls short due to digestive limitations, IV therapy ensures swift and comprehensive nutrient absorption. Some of the biggest benefits of IV therapy from a functional medicine doctor in Pine Valley, CA include the following:

IV fluids and electrolytes rapidly hydrate your body, providing an efficient remedy for dehydration resulting from illness, physical activity, or excessive alcohol intake.

IV treatment is able to increase energy and fight tiredness, which can make you feel re-energized.

IV infusions containing immune-enhancing vitamins and antioxidants can fortify your immune system and assist in recovering from illness.

IV therapy containing growth factors, exosomes, and vitamins is effective in improving the health and appearance of the skin and hair. These components complement hair and facial microneedling treatments exceptionally well.

IV therapy can help reduce the symptoms of toxic exposure, like headaches, nausea, fatigue, and dehydration, whether it's from a basic hangover or prolonged exposure to molds, heavy metals, or other toxins.

Dr. Oberg’s personalized IV infusions can serve as an initial boost for making lifestyle changes and play a role in a sustained plan to control persistent conditions like diabetes, autoimmune disorders, cancer, heart disease, and others.

Support Mitochondria function and Anti-aging

Dr. Oberg offers carefully sourced and research backed regenerative therapies such as exosome and stem cell infusions. These can be powerful options for people recovering from chronic infections such as long COVID or Epstein Barr or Lyme. They are also powerful for neuro-regeneration and we frequently use them in stroke recovery and for traumatic brain injury.

Naturopathic Doctor Fresno Pine Valley, CA

Dr. Oberg Has an IV Infusion with Your Name on It

This therapy is based on advanced testing that evaluates your cells' nutrient levels. Whether you need more energy, a stronger immune system, or relief from different health issues, IV drip therapy can be customized to help you rediscover the very best version of yourself.

Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine

As we get older, our bodies experience a range of changes that affect our health and appearance. These changes are primarily caused by issues with mitochondria and cellular aging. However, there have been significant developments in regenerative medicine, offering the potential to turn back the hands of time and improve health. Schedule a consultation today with Dr. Oberg to begin your journey with regenerative medicine.

Exosomes are tiny vesicles generated from mesenchymal stem cells. These vesicles serve as powerful communicators, transmitting signals to various tissues in the body. Their main function is to trigger healing, regeneration, and repair processes, mimicking the actions of younger cells. They are considered to be one of the most effective strategies for combating the aging process.

PINE VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) — The Marine Corps said the helicopter it was searching for Wednesday morning has been located in Pine Valley, and the search for the crew is underway.

The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing said on X that civil authorities located the aircraft at 9:08 a.m. Ground and aviation assets from the Wing Operation Command Center are actively looking for the five missing Marines. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department and several federal, state and local agencies are assisting the search.

The search for the missing CH-53E Super Stallion in the East County area started around 1 a.m. Wednesday. That's when the Marine Corps asked the sheriff's department for help finding the aircraft.

Cal Fire also received a call from the Marine Corps asking for assistance. They responded to the area of the aircraft’s last known location in the Cleveland National Forest, where weather conditions are cold and snowy.

The missing Marines were conducting a routine training flight.

Marine officials released this statement earlier Wednesday:

“The U.S. Marine Corps is searching for five U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The Marines were flying a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter from Creech Air Force Base to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on Feb. 6, 2024, when the aircraft was reported overdue. The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing is coordinating search and rescue efforts with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and the Civil Air Patrol. The most up-to-date information will be released as it becomes available.”

The sheriff's department also has ground crews helping with the search; the agency also deployed one of its helicopters, but they were unable to reach the area because of the weather conditions.

Cal Fire officials said they deployed search-and-rescue crews just after 7:30 a.m., with the intent to start searching in the area where the last signal from the aircraft was received. Crews would then move further out from that point.

In addition to Cal Fire crews, the following agencies are helping with the search:

Pine Valley residents ABC 10News spoke to said they didn't hear a crash. "It's sad and concerning. I pray for all of them. I wish them the best," said Randy Fiches.

He said the weather likely the biggest obstacle in this search.

"It was coming down pretty good when I got up at 5 o'clock this morning with very low visibility comeing down from the general store area in laguna. I would estimate between 10-12 inches on the ground," he explained.

Searchers have found the bodies of five Marines who were aboard a U.S. Marine helicopter when it crashed in a mountainous region east of San Diego, authorities said Thursday.

It's not known where the bodies were discovered. Recovery efforts have begun and an investigation into the crash is underway.

The Marines were assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Their names will not be released until 24 hours after their families are notified.

The CH-53E Super Stallion, a heavy-lift helicopter, was flying from Nevada to California when contact was lost at about 11:30 p.m. local time Tuesday, Marine Corps officials said.

Bad weather hampered search efforts. The helicopter was found in Pine Valley, California, a mountainous area near Cleveland National Forest about 35 miles east of downtown San Diego, early Wednesday.

The aircraft was on a routine training flight from Creech Air Force Base near Las Vegas to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego when it was reported overdue.

"It is with a heavy heart and a profound sadness that I share the loss of five outstanding Marines," said Maj. Gen. Borgschulte, commanding general of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, in a statement.

"To the families of our fallen Marines, we send our deepest condolences and commit to ensuring your support and care during this incredibly difficult time."

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection received word of the missing helicopter at about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday and responded to its last known location in Pine Valley, according to Cal Fire San Diego Capt. Mike Cornette, USA TODAY reported.

Workers were searching the area on the ground and with drones, Cornette said. Crews hoped to bring in additional aircraft, but visibility was near zero because of snowfall.

Cal Fire San Diego posted a video saying firefighters were helping with the search north of Interstate 8 and Kitchen Creek Road, southeast of Pine Valley. The agency reported that snowy conditions were complicating the search.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said it was using four-wheel-drive Jeeps to search the area "due to the difficult terrain."

"The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing is managing search and rescue efforts through the Wing Operations Command Center and using ground and aviation assets to locate the aircrew in coordination with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and multiple federal, state and local agencies," the agency said in a statement.

Pine Valley Golf Club, the top-ranked golf course in the U.S. that first opened its doors to women members in 2021, has been selected to host the 2034 Curtis Cup.

"We are committed to bringing our championships to the finest golf courses in the country, and over the last several years, that commitment has only strengthened for our women’s championships,” said Mike Whan, CEO of the USGA. “That is why, on the eve of a monumental first U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach, this is a fitting and historic announcement for the Curtis Cup and the USGA.”

MORE: The USGA is rethinking how it pays for its amateur championships

The biennial match that pits the top American female amateur golfers against the best from Great Britain and Ireland, will be just the third time the vaunted New Jersey club has hosted an elite competition, and the first involving women. Previously, Pine Valley hosted the 1936 and 1985 Walker Cup matches, and also hosts the annual Crump Cup for elite mid-amateurs. With the exception of a Shell's Wonderful World of Golf exhibition between Gene Littler and Byron Nelson in 1962, Pine Valley has never hosted an elite professional event.

Located 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia in the pine barrens of southwest New Jersey, the unique George Crump layout has been ranked the No. 1 course in Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses list since 2017, and has only seldomly surrendered the top spot in the ranking’s history. As Golf Digest architecture editor emeritus Ron Whitten has written, “Pine Valley blends all three schools of golf design—penal, heroic and strategic—often times on a single hole.”

A playing of the Curtis Cup at Pine Valley is particularly noteworthy given the club’s long history as a male-only club. The club went 108 years without allowing female members, and waited nine years after Augusta National Golf Club opened its doors to women before following the same path. After voting to change its membership bylaws in 2021, Pine Valley admitted LPGA legend Annilka Sorenstam, and accomplished amateur golfers Sarah Ingram and Meghan Stasi as its first female members.

The U.S. defeated GB&I, 15 1/2-4 1/2, last year at Merion Golf Club. The next match is scheduled for 2024 at Sunningdale Golf Club in England, followed by Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles hosting in 2026, National Golf Links of America on Long Island in 2030 and Bandon Dunes Golf Club in 2038.

5-Stage Project Due to Last Through Spring 2024

SAN DIEGO — Caltrans construction crews working on the Interstate 8 pavement replacement and road improvement project from Viejas Creek to Pine Valley will reconfigure the lane reductions through the construction site.

Instead of two construction closures, crews will taper traffic into one single closure, taking motorists from three lanes to one for approximately three miles through the construction site, beginning the week of November 7.

Currently, in Stage One, the project has involved slab repair, shoulder strengthening, and stormwater work from the Viejas Creek Bridge to the Sweetwater Bridge. As the project enters the next phase of work, set for 12 weeks, travelers will notice barrel cones that will take away the number one lane (left lane), merging vehicles into the number two lane (center lane). A second taper will appear less than a mile later to merge cars into the number three lane (right lane). Travelers will remain in one lane of traffic for 3.16 miles.

Most of the work will take place on weekdays and overnight.

Vista Point is a project staging area and remains closed until work is complete.

The Eastbound I-8 Pine Valley Pavement Project will improve 10 miles of the roadway from Viejas Creek Road to just west of Pine Valley Creek Bridge. Work on Viejas Creek Road to SR-79 will replace the right lane and outside shoulder with Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP), the left shoulder with hot mixed Asphalt, and install drainage improvements.

CRCP is placing steel reinforcing bars within the concrete along the length of the lanes. CRCP naturally forms tight transverse cracks to transfer loads evenly. The result is a continual, smooth-riding surface capable of withstanding the heaviest loads and the most adverse environmental conditions. The life span of CRCP pavement may be up to 70 years, far exceeding existing road surfaces. This means a better driver experience with less cost and maintenance time for highway workers exposed to live traffic.

The portion of the project from SR-79 to just west of Pine Valley Creek Bridge will replace the right two lanes and right shoulder with CRCP. The work also includes replacing/upgrading guard rails and repairing bridge rails on five bridges, and installing broadband conduit. The estimated total project cost is $46 million, funded by state and federal sources, including SB 1, the Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Act funding.

Motorists are reminded to be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other construction-related reasons.
