Healthy Hedonism™
What if pleasure wasn’t indulgent, but intelligent?
Health Was Never Meant to Feel Like Punishment.
A physician’s science-based philosophy for designing a long life you love living.
I wrote Healthy Hedonism to challenge the idea that health requires restriction. The science is clear. Pleasure, connection, beauty, novelty, and even sensuality regulate our nervous system, optimize hormones, and extend healthspan. The book shows how to design a life where feeling good isn’t indulgent, it’s intelligent biology.
As a physician, I kept seeing high-performing people who were successful but depleted. We optimize labs, hormones, peptides, but if someone’s life has no joy, their physiology reflects it. Healthy Hedonism explains why Pleasure is not a luxury. It is medicine.
Dr. Erica Oberg is the founder of the Healthy Hedonism movement. It is a science-based philosophy that helps high-performing leaders graduate from survival physiology into expansion physiology. Drawing on over two decades of clinical medicine and biomedical research, she challenges the belief that restriction and hyper-discipline are the path to health. Instead, she teaches that intelligently attuned pleasure regulates the nervous system, restores vitality, and expands leadership capacity.
Feeling good is not a reward for being healthy. It’s the way we become healthy.
